Catherine’s Cottage

Catherine’s Cottage was added to the owners’ property in July 2014, and provides a cosy home-from-home for tourists and business travellers alike.  Although the cottage and main house share a driveway, the cottage entrance is private and there’s a secluded, leafy patio for guests to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Catherine’s Cottage is generously proportioned (43m2) : step into the open plan lounge / kitchen / dining area, then through to the spacious bedroom with Queen size bed, and into the ensuite bathroom (shower, basin, WC).  The cottage is conveniently situated just off Main Road (M4), on the Claremont / Kenilworth border.

Our cottage is ideal for a couple, with one Queen size bed in the bedroom. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children.  James, Sam and Catherine have lived in Cape Town since 2009, and enjoy welcoming guests from all over South Africa, as well as the rest of the world.  James and Sam worked in the hotel industry in the UK for a number of years (and also ran a village pub in Scotland for a while!) and will go out of their way to make your stay both comfortable and memorable.

Catherine’s Cottage is secure and safe for women travelling alone and the owners are available in case of emergency.

Facilities :

Since Covid-19 arrived in SA, we have changed our offering to facilitate easier cleaning and sanitising, and to ensure the health and safety of our guests.  Our rates have been adjusted accordingly and offer incredible value for money!  Uncapped, fibre WiFi and access to Netflix are included.  You will need to use your own device to log into Netflix, but we provide a cable so if using your laptop, you can plug into the TV for a bigger screen and more comfortable viewing.

The kitchen has an upright fridge/freezer, microwave, counter top mini oven with 3 plate hob, kettle, toaster and filter coffee machine.

The TV is in the lounge, as well as a small stereo (CD player and radio).

As of October 2020 Cape Town’s dams are full, but after 3 years of drought we know that this could change within a matter of weeks.  We ask guests to be mindful of water usage, and to take laundry to KenDry, a very reliable launderette less than 1km away, rather than washing by hand.

Our tap water is not suitable for drinking but we provide mountain spring water on arrival.
